Editorial Standards

Effective 1 September 2026

Who we are

MMA Zone is an independent mixed martial arts publication. We are not owned by, funded by, or affiliated with any promotion. Nothing we publish is cleared with anyone before it runs.

Sourcing

Every factual claim needs a source, and we publish the list under the article. Where reporting rests on a person who will not be named, we say so in the copy and the editor knows who they are.

We do not run rumour as fact. “People are saying” is not a source, and neither is another outlet's unattributed report — if we cannot stand it up ourselves, we credit and link the original rather than laundering it into our own byline.

Corrections

We correct in public. When we get something wrong we add a dated correction to the article itself rather than quietly editing the text. A silent fix is indistinguishable from never having been wrong, and that is precisely the thing a reader has no way to check.

Spotted an error? Tell us — corrections go to the top of the queue.

Authorship

Every article carries a real byline and links to that writer's profile. Contributed work is edited for clarity, length and house style; if an edit would change what a piece actually says, we go back to the writer first.

We do not publish machine-generated writing. Tools are fine for research. The reporting and the words have to be a person's.

Fighter data

Records, event cards and fighter statistics are licensed from a third-party data provider and synced automatically. Where a page shows synced data, that is what it is — we do not silently hand-edit it to fit a story. Photography carries its licence credit wherever it appears.

Comments

Comments are for readers, not for us to referee opinion. We remove abuse, harassment, doxxing and spam. We do not remove criticism of MMA Zone.

Removed comments leave a visible marker rather than vanishing, so a thread never silently changes shape.

Conflicts of interest

If a writer has a relationship with someone they are covering — management, a gym, a promotion, a personal tie — it is disclosed in the piece or the piece goes to someone else.

Advertising

Any sponsored or paid placement is labelled as such. No advertiser gets to see, approve, or influence editorial before it runs.
